Cr Herbert Calls On Vic Government To Deliver An Improved Hospital For the South West
Warrnambool's new mayor has called for the Labor party to pledge funding towards the planned Stage II redevelopment of the Warrnambool Base Hospital.
Councilor Tony Herbert says given that more than $7m has already been invested in the development of a master plan for the hospital, it was reasonable to expect that a re-elected Andrews Government would match the Liberal Nationals commitment.
"We have had the Liberal Party give a commitment of sorts to 'get on and do what needs to be done',"
"We need to hear the Labor Party make a pledge to implement the master plan that it has funded, having already spent in excess of $7 million on the plan."
"There is more to Victoria than Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and the Latrobe Valley."
Latrobe Regional Hospital received a $79 million upgrade which opened earlier this year and a $217 million pledge from the Labor Party for a further redevelopment. Ballarat Base Hospital received $461.6 million worth of funding which was announced last May for a new hospital and a new $630 million hospital in Bendigo in August.
