One Of The Region's Best Retires After A Long Innings
Wangoom's Norm Gibson, one of the regions most respected cricketers, will retire on Sunday after 45 years.
59-year-old Norm has played with both WDCA and Grassmere Associations and held a number of committee roles.
Gibson has been playing since the 1970's but now says the body has had enough and it's time to retire.
"The brain would like to do lots of things but the body won't allow it,"
"I've been pretty fortunate that I've been able to play for a long time"
Gibson says he has many highlights over his long career including playing country week and winning player of the week for the division and all the friendships he's made over the journey, both on and off the cricket pitch.
The Wangoom great will continue his football roles as a member of the Warrnambool and District Football League Board and goal umping with the Warrnambool Umpires Association.
